Familias y Escuelas Unidas

La iniciativa Families and Schools Together” – (FAST) (Familias y Escuelas Unidas) se esfuerza por reunir a los colaboradores de la comunidad para ayudar a abordar la crisis de cuidado de niños que enfrenta nuestra comunidad. FAST es una colaboración del Sistema de Escuelas Públicas del Condado Wake (WCPSS), la asociación WakeEd Partnership, y los proveedores de cuidado de niños fuera del horario escolar y las organizaciones comunitarias del Condado Wake.

The Families and Schools Together (FAST) Initiative strives to bring community partners together to help address the childcare crisis facing our community. FAST is a collaboration of the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS), WakeEd Partnership, and key out of school time childcare providers and community organizations in Wake County.

FAST’s primary goal is to ensure that all families in Wake County have support for remote learning during the work day, these staffed small-group and socially distanced learning centers will provide physical activity and extended learning opportunities as well. More specifically, FAST provides:

  • A quality, academic environment (quiet room, socially-distanced student workspaces, internet access, trained staff/adult to monitor)
  • Financial assistance or reduced rate programs for families who need assistance
  • Recreation/physical activity
  • Extended learning activities (examples include: Social Emotional Learning, STEM, Art, Leadership Development, Character Development, etc.)
  • Adherence to all local, state and federal guidelines for safe childcare during COVID-19

YMCA Scholastic Support Centers are a place where your K –8 students can go to participate in their online school or Virtual Academy classes. The program is offered either Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with an extended day option for those who need full-day care, or as a full-day program from 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Hours vary by location, and exact times may vary depending on school system student attendance policies.

City of Raleigh Recreation and Education Centers

Recreation and Education Centers (REC) activities will include arts and crafts, active and quiet games, outdoor activities, physical activity, movies, cards and board games, and other activities. Time during the day will be designated for each participant to participate in remote learning, digital time and/or a quiet activity.

Participants will be assigned to a group, called a “household”, upon arrival at the center. Each household will be limited to 15 participants or less and will be assigned to a home base.  Activities have been modified so that any shared equipment will be used only by one household or sanitized between household use and group contact will be limited to no more than two households. Locations with gymnasiums will be shared spaces allowing for active indoor recreation opportunities during the day. Households may alternate use of home base and gym spaces. Outside time will be scheduled as frequently as possible, weather permitting. This includes using picnic shelters or outside spaces for meal times and activities. Program use of outdoor amenities will be consistent with federal, state and local guidance. Group bathroom breaks and individual breaks will be provided.

Boys & Girls Clubs Serving Wake County

Clubes Boys & Girls que sirven al Condado Wake

Boys & Girls Clubs que sirven al Condado Wake, pondrá a disposición nuestros servicios para los niños y los adolescentes a partir del lunes 17 de agosto. Boys & Girls Clubs serving Wake County will make our services available for children and teens beginning Monday, August 17th. Most of our Clubhouses will operate 7:30AM-6PM Monday through Friday with an emphasis on supporting Club Members on-line/remote learning each day, as well as providing a chance for children and teens to be active, have fun and get involved in other structured activities. A daily hot meal will be provided at our Clubs in Raleigh.

Our Clubs need to support the focused effort to keep children and teens from spreading the virus to older adults in the community. Our Clubs have many safety precautions in place and have been following the guidelines of local health leaders since reopening July 6th. Information on our safety and wellness guidelines will be shared with parents when signing up for the school year program.

Children and teens wishing to join the Boys & Girls Clubs will pay a $7.50 Membership Fee that will expire December 31, 2021. Current Club members can renew their membership for 2021 by contacting their local Club. Cost per day is $5 or $25 per week. Scholarships are available by speaking with your Club Director. No child will be turned away for inability to pay fees. For any Club Member entering their Club after 1PM the daily fees do not apply that day.

Parents can find out more information and how to sign your child(ren) up for the Boys & Girls Clubs school year program by calling your local Club. Space will be limited in order to follow mandates for social distancing, safe gatherings and ratios of Club Members to staff.

Food Pantry: Every Friday, we host our Friday Family Food Pantry at our Teen Center location. Families are encouraged to come between 4:00pm-6:00pm to shop through and collect needed items for their family. Donations can be accepted between 8:30am-12:00pm at the same location. Weekly Marbles Learn & Play programs will support students and families with:

Holly Springs Parks and Recreation takes priority in serving and supporting the community.  We recognize that changes to the upcoming school year and the shift to online education creates a need for out of school time care for children. We are excited to announce the opening of the Hunt Center CARE program, Cultivating Academic support and Recreational Enrichment!

Hunt Center CARE will provide full day child care from 7:30am to 5:30pm for students K-6. The CARE program will be staffed by Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Program Specialists and counselors trained in school age care and providing assistance during remote learning. Hunt Center CARE will offer a safe and supportive environment for students to participate in remote learning or virtual academy. Students will be grouped in small classes with space to support virtual schoolwork and allow for distancing. Wifi will be available. Students are required to provide their own devices, headphones and other necessary school supplies. When remote learning and school work are complete, Hunt Center CARE staff will provide recreational enrichment for students to keep them engaged including activities such as arts, crafts, and active games.

As our society navigates the COVID-19 pandemic, we understand that schedules are uncertain and everchanging. To provide flexibility, we will offer a daily registration option to allow for parents to register for the days that best fit your needs. Only need care on Mondays? Then only register for Mondays. Plus, if you need care for the full week, register for every day and Friday is FREE!

BounceU - Bounce & Learn Camp (Apex)

As the 2020-2021 school year begins, BounceU is committed to supporting the children and parents of our community during this challenging and unfamiliar time. In support of the FAST initiative, the Bounce & Learn program was created to provide childcare and learning assistance to our working families while ensuring kids stay active and social in a safe, secure environment. We also want to encourage STEM learning by introducing campers to a variety of Technology Projects.

Bounce & Learn Camp Program Highlights – For Grades K-8

  • Provides a quiet, academic space for students to participate in live remote instruction
  • Planned physical exercise activities – both structured and free play sessions
  • Interactive grade appropriate Technology projects and activities

Camp Pump It Up – Jump & Learn (Raleigh)

As the 2020-2021 school year begins, Pump It Up is here and committed to supporting the children and parents of our community during this challenging time. In support of the FAST initiative, the Camp Pump It Up Jump & Learn program was created to provide childcare and learning assistance to our working families while ensuring kids stay active and social in a safe, secure environment.

Pump It Up Jump & Learn Program Highlights – For Grades K-5

  • Provides a quiet, academic space for students to participate in live remote instruction
  • Planned physical exercise activities – both structured and free play sessions
  • Interactive grade appropriate art projects and activities
  • Small group settings with a maximum of 10 children per 1 counselor
  • Both academic rooms and play arenas will be set up to allow social distancing
  • Strive to maintain small individual groups with no sharing of equipment
  • Enhanced sanitizing/cleaning procedures scheduled throughout the day
  • Affordable and flexible half day and full day scheduling options
  • Adheres to all CDC and NCDHHS Guidelines related to offering childcare services

Camp Requirements
Each camper will need to bring a mask, a laptop or tablet with charger, headphones, a snack (2 if attending full day), bag lunch, water bottle, socks and a completed safety waiver. Please ensure your child has school login credentials. Lunch may be purchased for $5 per day.

Science Fun For Everyone – Virtual School Support Science Camp (Cary)

About

Science Fun For Everyone has redesigned the Science Labs to create a place where your K – 6th grade children can go to participate in their virtual classes. The majority of the ScienceFun staff are degreed scientists and teachers. We will have the children in small groups, in quiet rooms for study and remote learning time. When online school/remote learning is completed (and during breaks), students will have time for enrichment activities, outside time, fun experiments, and free-play.

Virtual School Support

Wi-Fi will be provided to support video chats, streaming media and other online school demands. Your child should bring a device, headphones and any other school supplies they may need. We will work with each child’s individualized school schedule.  We ask for you to fill out our School Support/Schedule Form before you drop off your child. More information on this after sign-up.
