RALEIGH, N.C. — WakeEd Partnership (WakeEd), a business-backed nonprofit organization committed to supporting teachers and students in the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS), announced today two new additions to their team.

Sidney Fowler has joined WakeEd Partnership as Director of Marketing & Communications, succeeding Nancy Halley who recently left WakeEd to join the UNC System Office. Lesley Brickhouse has joined WakeEd Partnership as the Summer Teacher Intern, a new position at WakeEd.

As Director of Marketing & Communications, Sidney Fowler leads and executes all WakeEd Partnership communications, marketing content, website updates and social media strategies. She has a bachelor’s degree in Communications Public Relations from Augusta University (AU) located in Augusta, Georgia and more than 8 years of experience in communications, digital content creation and social media marketing.

While attending Augusta University, Sidney reported for her school newspaper and student led magazine. Her strong academic performance and involvement in extracurriculars afforded her the opportunity to promote AU in the university’s multi-media marketing campaign.

She has performed in numerous shows for AU, acted in community theatre productions, commercials, and various films. She worked as an actress on a short film that won Best Local Action Short 2018 at Atlanta Shortfest. Sidney has volunteered at multiple foundations to aid in empowering individuals with disabilities and medical hardship.

She developed her skills in marketing and communications through hands-on groundwork she’s laid for large corporations, family-owned businesses and entrepreneurs alike. In 2020 she moved to Raleigh, North Carolina developing and executing marketing strategies for local businesses who specialized in property modification, beautification, and restoration.

As WakeEd’s Summer Teacher Intern, Lesley Brickhouse is working with WakeEd Director of Programs Douglas Price to manage WakeEd’s SummerSTEM and Career Accelerator programs. Lesley is currently the Career Development Coordinator at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School where she’s also the STEM Coordinator and CTE Dept. Chair. This is her 23rd year in education.

A Biology major at Fayetteville State University, Lesley started in the classroom as a Science teacher. While earning a Masters in Education with a focus in Instructional Technology, her love of STEM education was born. Working from the age of 15, she has developed a strong work ethic and a passion for career development and assisting students with developing skills needed for the workplace. Lesley has previously worked with WakeEd as a SummerSTEM coach.
