For more than 43 years, Milton Senter has served as a dedicated educator and legendary baseball coach for his alma mater, Fuquay-Varina High School, where he led student athletes to more than 600 wins and multiple state championships throughout his career.

A native of Fuquay-Varina, Milton Senter graduated from Fuquay-Varina High School before attending Campbell University. After teaching for two years at a private school, he returned to Fuquay-Varina High School in the Fall of 1977, where he would spend 43 years teaching and coaching talented students at his alma mater. Throughout his career, Milton taught Social Studies; coached basketball, football, and baseball; and served as Athletic Director. In addition to working with students in the classroom, baseball became one of his greatest passions.

During his tenure at FVHS, Milton also played a critical role in fundraising to maintain and improve the athletic fields – especially the baseball stadium. He couldn’t be more proud of the baseball program and the relationships forged with players, his coaching staff, and opposing coaches. More than 73 FVHS athletes have gone on to play college baseball and six were drafted for professional teams. Over the last four decades, Coach Senter has seen Fuquay-Varina High School grow from a 2A to a 4A high school and has coached several generations from the same family – including his two sons and grandson.

“It has been my honor to serve as a coach and teacher – and hopefully a positive influence on young students and athletes. I am the one who has been blessed.”
