WakeEd Insight – May Edition

\"Steve\"It’s funny to think about ending something in May. We’re almost halfway through the calendar year, but, like many businesses, our fiscal year is coming to a close.

As we look at spreadsheets and calculate numbers for next year, we also have to look back and ask ourselves, “Are we having an impact?”

At STEMposium, WCPSS educators gave us our answer: YES! STEMposium is the culminating event of SummerSTEM, a professional development program that put educators from 25 WCPSS schools in six local businesses. At STEMposium, these educators shared the results of their yearlong experience, including their lessons and student work, with business leaders, elected officials and other educators to spread best practices. You can read about how SummerSTEM helped one science teacher create a soil conservation unit and connect her curriculum to other subjects by clicking here.

We know we are having an impact. We are hoping to build an even bigger budget for 2016 – 2017 to impact more educators. Our fiscal year ends June 30, and we hope to close it out strong. You can help us by making a tax-deductible gift to WakeEd Partnership. Along with our corporate gifts, your donations make our work possible.

Thank you in advance for your support. I am happy to have you as a partner in our quest to improve education for all students in Wake County.
