PNC Grants Support Wake Education

$75,000 in grants to Wake Education Partnership fund  early childhood literacy efforts and ‘Building Leaders’ Initiative

PNC has provided Wake Education Partnership with two grants, totaling $75,000, to help fund the local non-profit organization’s Building Leaders initiative and early childhood literacy efforts.One grant of $30,000 will focus on improving early childhood literacy skills in Wake County through community outreach events and other efforts to bring together various literacy groups that focus on early childhood reading skills. The initial work of the grant will focus on eastern Wake County with details to be announced in the coming months.

An additional grant of $45,000 will support the Partnership’s Building Leaders initiative which includes programs such as Teacher Leadership Grants, an annual Education Summit, the annual Pieces of Gold student arts performance, In Context news summaries, Excellence in Action school visits and other efforts that support Wake County’s schools.

As part of this grant, PNC will sponsor the Partnership’s 30th anniversary celebration in late spring.
