For more than three decades, WakeEd has advocated for excellent educational opportunities for all students in the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS).
Our goal is to make sure every WCPSS graduate can compete in a global economy. To accomplish this, we conduct programs throughout the year aimed at continual growth for students and educators. Below are some of the areas where business leaders can volunteer.
Early Literacy – WakeEd partners with schools to engage families in support of Early Childhood literacy. As a partner in the WAKE Up and Read collaborative, WakeEd has helped collect more than 60,000 books for children in low-income households.
STEMpact – SummerSTEM, and more projects. WakeEd recognizes the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math education, so we’ve created several programs to make sure we are investing in the future.
World Café – brings business leaders together with educators to match financial and in-kind resources with learning. At this annual event, schools have an opportunity to network and meet businesses looking to invest time and resources in STEM education. More than 85% of participating businesses and educators said the event was excellent or very good. Then schools have an opportunity to present in the “Idea Crucible” for a chance win up to $3,000 in funding for the best STEM project.
