…WAKE Up and Read is gearing up for the 2015 book drive. From February 1 – March 2, WAKE Up and Read will collect new and gently-used books for children ages birth-12. The goal is to collect 100,000 books in one month – enough to share at nine schools as well as community centers and child care facilities across Wake County. YOU can help by becoming a collection partner, donating books, or signing up to volunteer. Even better? Do all three!
…It’s worth mentioning again. WCPSS has developed a real-time dashboard that provides information on current building projects. An interactive map of projects provides links to specific project sites. Each project site supplies a status narrative as well as budget numbers, acreage, square footage, student capacity, and anticipated occupancy date.
…The Wake County Board of Education has adopted a legislative agenda. The agenda largely supports the legislative agenda of the NC School Board Association with some added language. Additionally, there are items related to public records requests and aerial drones.
…The Partnership has convened the Wake Education Advisory Council to bring together leaders from the twelve chambers of commerce in Wake County. Quarterly meetings provide opportunities to hear from WCPSS leadership about topics of interest and concern.
